2015 Fall Renal Update

Program Objectives

The purpose of this conference is to present evidence-based practice related issues relevant to dialysis professionals, and to provide an opportunity for networking with colleagues. At the conclusion of this conference the clinician will be able to:

1. Understand the electrolytes commonly adjusted during dialysis and be able to evaluate and treat electrolyte shifts.
2. Understand treatment options for various intoxications that are amenable to hemodialysis.
3. Describe how to better care for ESRD patients by properly advising regarding kidney transplantation as potential therapy and referring them to a transplant center.
4. Increase knowledge of the effects of fluid on the overall outcomes of the dialysis patient.
5. Teach the skills to become comfortable in difficult conversations.
6. Understand the process of advance care planning in kidney patients, identify barriers and learn about a pilot to address those barriers.
